Maybe everything was antecipated. Maybe you have already followed the event in real time via Endgadget (I did!). Regardless, it is certainly the major buzz around the web now: the new iPad.
Evolution or Revolution?
Tim Cook claims that Apple has done it again, reinvented the category. Get to your own conclusions with the specs below.
Resolution: crisp and unrivalled Retina Display sports a 2048 X 1536 resolution, 44 percent greater color saturation, and an astounding 3.1 million pixels (264 pixels per inch) — in the same 9.7-inch space. The result is richer colors and perfect details.
Performance: A5X chip with quad-core graphics drives four times the pixels of iPad 2, claimed to work with the same fluidness that has always been
Battery Life: stated to be the same, lasting 10h
iSight Camera: now with the same specs that made the 4S iPhone amaze and take over the web. 5 Mp with a ƒ/2.4 aperture and a five-element lens. Shoots 1080p/30fps video with digital image stabilization for capturing shake-free Full HD.
4G LTE connection, can now be used as a hotspot (carrier dependant)
Siri? As of now, only for dictation
New Apps: I will focus on stuff that is Photography related. The new embedded Photos is Ok, iPhoto is a more powerful alternative, although it does not support the latest photo resolutions. Still nothing to replace Adobe’s Lightroom or Photoshop. iMovie allows for some editing, so you can finish small projects on the go, but is FAR from a Pro suite in a multi-monitor setup.
Price range: The previous iPad2 is to continue on sale, with a reduced price tag. Apple claims this price drop to be US$100, selling from US$399 (this is not seen yet on Amazon or BHPhoto). New prices will be 16Gb US$499, 32Gb US$599, 64Gb US$699. Want 4G? 16Gb US$629, 32Gb US$729, 64Gb US$829.
