SUBJECT MATERIAL
- Subjects can be as varied as abstract, still life, landscape, figure work, portraits, photo documentary, social commentary and experimental work.
Please note that nude figure work is accepted but due to censorship laws in some countries avoid full frontal nudes as they will automatically be disqualified.
The images can be presented as black & white, sepia, hand coloured or colour.
The image capture device can be as varied as film, memory card, paper negatives, scanners, sensitized materials, lens less photography or even a wacom tablet.
- 1. Size your images at 72 DPI and ensure the file size for each image is no larger than 250kb.
2. Attach a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 15 images as a jpeg to the email. DO NOT attach a ZIP file/embedded file or TIFF.
3. The image title/tag should be a number or descriptive. NOT your name.
4. Attach a word document outlining your education, published works and/or exhibitions, career to date and artist’s statement.
5. In the body of the email place your name, address, country and telephone number.

7. You can submit three separate folios. Successful submissions will be notified on September 4th 2012.
- The Silvershotz Annual Folio journal has a 10,000 print run, 8,000 are distributed in 1400 bookstores in 17 countries. A further 2,000 are mailed free of charge to galleries, libraries, collectors and institutions in 19 countries. The 2012 Folio is also provided as a gift to all subscribers on the website and itunes store.
Photographer’s websites are linked from the Silvershotz website and a PDF is supplied for their own marketing efforts. There is a marketing fee to cover design, layout, editing, proofing and promotion. If you are selected by the jury panel you must be in a position to pay the marketing fee of USD$990.00 or £595.00.
- – Successful applicants must be in a position to pay the marketing fee by September 7th 2012 ( unless approved for a scholarship).
– Successful applicants must have high resolution TIFF files ready to FTP by September 14th.
– Photographers Indemnity. The photographer agrees that the work presented is created by the applicant and the applicant is the sole owner of the images presented. The photographer further agrees that the image does not infringe any person/s right to privacy. All necessary model releases required will be available on request and the photographer indemnifies Silvershotz International from any court action that may result from any injured party, real or imagined, that may result in harm due to public exposure. The photographer indemnifies Silvershotz against any action, suit or legal challenge in the event of any breach of the aforementioned clauses.
– Usage Rights – Silvershotz. Copyright of the photograph and ownership of the image shall remain with the photographer at all times. However, all successful applicants agree to grant Silvershotz International Limited permission to use the work for promotional purposes, in any of their publications, electronic media or printed materials, including web site, online galleries, publications book, trade show and exhibition visuals, and marketing materials or lecture series. At all times Silvershotz International agrees to identify the photographer as the copyright owner of the image/s at all times.
– Usage Rights – Photographer Based on the premise of quid pro quo the same clause applies to the photographer. Silvershotz International Limited retains the intellectual property rights of the layouts and integrity of the Silvershotz folio journal. The photographer is provided with the Silvershotz logo and a PDF of their layout which can be used by the photographer to promote their work in publications, printed materials, electronic media, web sites, online galleries, exhibitions and marketing materials. The photographer will at all times acknowledge and identify Silvershotz as the promoter of the folio journal.
