The Camera Grand Prix award is an important recognition held by the Camera Journal Press Club in partnership with TIPA (The Technical Image Press Association), a group of 30 photo and film magazines from 14 countries mainly in Europe, confirming that both groups would collaborate on their awards for mutual development.
The award was created in 1984 and is considered very important in the Photography world. The categories and 2012 winners are:
Camera of The Year
The award went to the Nikon D800.
Readers Award
The Readers Award went to the Nikon D800. The award was established in 2008, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Camera Grand Prix. The winner is selected by general readers’ votes.
Lens of The Year
The award went to the Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM.
Editors Award
As the result of a conference of C.J.P.C. members, the Sony NEX-7 and the Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm F1.8 were selected for Editors Award.
