OK, the tech fruit has done it again. Apple’s developer conference dazzled the world with new and addictive new technology that we didn’t even know we needed.
From all that was said and released I brought the most relevant and marked what really matters to photographers. This is just the beginning as according to Apple there are over 200 new features
As usual, as the new generation comes out, the previous tech gets on sale. To mention only one, BHPhoto has some sweet deals on not-that-old Apple devices.
- New MacBook Pro
- Forget about Full HD or 1900X1440 pixels. The new and mighty display sports 5 million pixels on 2880X1800 pixels, more than twice the pixels of a HDTV;
- Has no CD/DVD and uses only SSD Drives.
- Thinner, lighter and much mightier with the Ivy Bridge processors.
- According to Apple the battery should resist up to 7h.
- iOS 6
- Available in some months to iPad (iPad2 and New iPad) and iPhone users (3GS or later);
- Many of the gimmicks are cool, but not that important to photography like the new Siri, that also works for iPad;
- 3D Maps, abandoning Google Maps;
- Strong Facebook integration, just as happened to Twitter (marked here only for sharing photos, no other social network related benefit I can see);
- Passbook for tickets management (like airline or movie tickets)
- Revamped iCloud is now able to share photos like DropBox;
- MacOS Mountain Lion
- Many gimmicks as Reminders, Notes and a new Message Center that replaces iChat and ‘talks’ with MacOS and iOS devices,
- Absolute integration with iCloud sycs ALL your stuff;
- Facebook integration as in iOS6;
- Dictation;
- All System Sharing makes files and photo sharing more integrated and easier
- Gatekeeper to make downloads safer
- AirPlay Mirroring to wirelessly stream 1080p videos or audio to Airplay receivers
- Improved Safari
