All Pictures by Laurent Laveder |
I believe that almost everybody loves to watch the Moon. Its presence (or absence) has been and will always be an enormous influence on mankind.
Browsing through some online photos I came across some very creative and even funny pictures portraying our nearest neighbor. The person behind these images is french artist and photographer Laurent Laveder, who envisioned several amusing new ways to play with the Moon, as if it was many other ‘down to Earth” objects.
Laveder is also a long time astronomer and that was a sure path into astrophotography. Among the diversity of gear used there are digital and film cameras, lenses from 8mm to 400mm, tripods, telescopes and many, many more.
These are only some of his images. There are many more here. Laurent has been published and awarded several times all over Earth (as far as I know the awards are all “local” 🙂 and if you browse his galleries it is easy to understand why. His pictures are also the subject of a book called Quartier Libre which features 48 pages of moon photography and calligraphy (French only).
All pictures are from Laurent Laveder and were shown with the artists permission. This post is just the beginning, as the artist agreed to give us an interview that should figure our podcast/blog soon.
