Canonwatch brought some interesting rumors to light. According to their sources Canon would have two remarkable moves up its sleeve.
The first move would make Canon EOS 70D to raise its position in the DSLR market, becoming Canon’s top model on the crop sensor camera range, thus replacing both EOS60D and the 7D. For this to take place the 70D would get an upgrade to its features, build and performance.
The second move is much more bold, but addresses an issue that is easy to understand as an answer to Nikon’s D600, the expected entry level Full Frame camera. This rumor states that still in time for Fotokina Canon would release a Mark II version of its amazing 7D, wich would be converted to the brand’s entry level Full Frame.
We’ll have to wait to see what will happen, and I always hope that competition gets harder and harder, so we customers can get better and cheaper gear. But I must confess that I do find curious that the 5D would be the top performer fantastic Full Frame workhorse and the higher number 7D would become the entry level cheaper version. And both Canon and Nikon with different and weird model names for the same camera on different countries? What’s with the crazy model numbering? 🙂
