It has been just a couple of days since mighty Apple released the new and so rumored iPhone 5. Along the news comes a not so new camera.
The upgraded specs that will be on sale on Sep 21st:
- New and mightier A6 processor;
- New and improved iOS 6 with new Siri, 3D maps with spoken map guidance and traffic info, Facebook integration, Passbook and much more;
- Bigger 4″ Retina screen. Actually this is only longer and not an inch thicker, what will make the apps that don’t adapt display black stripes 🙁
- 18% thinner and 20% lighter. Untill the iPhone 10 this thing will float and be as thin as paper!
- Lighting connector. Yep, start thinking about spending extra cash on adaptors if you want to use the iPhone gadgets you already have. The new connector is part of the solution that made version 5 thinner. Apple will sell it for “just” US$29, you will find it for maybe US$5 from China, if it works 🙂
- New EarPod in-ear headphones – on size fits all comfortably, at least according to Apple;
- 4G LTE network support;
Saved for last what interests us the most, the new back camera:
- 8-megapixels 3,264 x 2,448 backside-illuminated sensor
- five-element lens
- f/2.4 aperture
Well, that was not new at all, those are the same specs from 4S’ camera. As that got some pretty decent photos, I don’t see a reason to complain. The new camera is indeed 25% thinner and social sharing through Facebook is now built into the OS. The panorama shooting feature that was hidden before is now official.
On the video side the front facing camera now features 720p video for all some extreme self close-ups. The back and the rear camera offers the same 30fps @1080p capture now with improved image stabilization.
Samsung got “a little jealous” and “leaked” the specs to the new and always awesome Galaxy S right away. Along with that came a funny ad:
