Yesterday was a day of mourning and deep reflections here in the U.K. People gathered to remember the terror attack and share peace messages, right there where that coward attack took place.
I was happy to see something different from the defiance I had imagined. Instead, I saw brothers from all religions united with utmost respect for each-other’s faith and consideration for those who lost their lives or got injured. Not only on last weeks attack, but for all those who suffered with all this crazy nonsense that has taken over the world.
I saw fellow Muslims sharing their grief with Christians and helping people understand that we cannot blame one entire Religion because a few misguided souls walked a crooked path. If that was the case we would need to condemn Christianity for the Crusades, KKK and the list goes on. That would be absolutely insane, as regrettable as these condemnable actions from some extremists that took the world’s press by storm. There isn’t a single word of evil or suggesting this coward actions against innocents. You may find some hard words in some religious texts, but nothing like this. And if you thought differently, I was referring to the Bible, and not the Quran. The Quran speaks of love and flowers in a poetic and beautiful way.
Regardless of what you believe, of whom you blame, getting even will only make it worse. You attack back, they attack again, you seek revenge… And our grand-grand-grand-grandchildren will keep this rotten cycle rolling. Exactly as seen in the past centuries! Maybe we can evolve enough to write a new chapter in softer pages of human history. Maybe all the advances that marvel us with can help develop one ‘thing’ that seems stuck behind in the progress run: ourselves. No, not ‘them’, not ‘they’, not ‘the radicals’. You. It all starts with each and every one of us. Our little actions, our intolerance, our minds that are closed to new ideas, our unwillingness to accept the differences.
If we keep meandering this spiralled path we will all end without eyes and teeth. And hands, feet, legs or future.
Start the change you want to see in the world by doing it yourself. Today!
(disclaimer: I follow no specific religion, although I’ve spoken for more hours than I could count with leaders from most big religions in this tiny planet. Those were fantastic experiences that enlightened the very fabric of my soul. I respect them all, regardless of agreeing or not with them.
I meant NO disrespect to any faith or person. If you thought anything bad from this text, please read it again considering I wrote it out of love and hope. If you still believe it is wrong or bad, please contact me so we can talk about it and I may have the opportunity to apologize for any mistakes I might have made)
