I always found the exchanges we have in our meetings to be fuel for my mind and I’d be sad to miss that energy, so I decided we will meet anyways and you might even collect a prize for daring to take part in this, read on to find out more.
I held the announcement of the next meeting as I thought we would come to this dire situation and here we are. To do our part in helping slow the spread of the nasty bug, let’s put our creative juices to work and find new and safe ways.
The next MeetUp will take place the last day of the month and we will get together. At least virtually get our ideas together and work physically isolated on them as a team! I’ve set a meeting date, but you can make it any day, it does not matter.
How it will work:
- Create an image according to a common concept/theme (any image, any camera, just create it!)
- Share the image
- Evaluate/comment/vote for the best pictures
- Participate in the live session so we can have a virtual coffee and chat over the most voted. In that session we will select the winner
By doing this we will have the chance to see a little more from outside and the world from the view of others. You could even use the extra time and browse through your archives to find photos that match the concept, the most important part is to share your view and help fuel our group, bringing some needed happy moments with it. Maybe your photo could be the window to someone else in the group and help spark a new idea or even a little smile?
Following Master Lino’s brilliant suggestion of having a theme/challenge for each MeetUp I selected one idea that we should photograph. It is
CHANGE
It does not matter what change means to you, just consider the concept and find what matches that inside your head. It could be the empty city from your window, the weather changing between seasons, days/years passing by, an empty battery that needs to be replaced or even a flat tire, the sensor is the limit ?. To be honest, if you have a gorgeous image that you would like to share and chat about, just send it too, let’s enjoy that one together even if it does not match the theme.
Post your photos, videos, photoshop art, illustration or any creation directly to the page I created for this, as this will be the place in which we will select the final images. Please also post your images to the MeetUp page and everywhere using the hashtag #IsolatedCollective_CHaya (I had to make the tag unique to our group), this way we will bring more images and inspiration to our “windows”. If you prefer, feel free to send your images using isolatedcollective@chaya.photo and I will upload them for you. Just don’t let that creativity collecting dust or your finger stuck with the remote controller, let’s free our minds! (Neo anyone?)
On the 31st/March we will get together virtually and evaluate the most voted/commented images posted to the challenge’s page. The winner will receive 150.- Swiss Francs in credits to anything I offer, the runner-up will receive Fr. 100.- in credits and the third-place Fr. 50.-(credits can be used for studio rental, photo session, studio portraits, all courses, personal photographer, wedding photos, event photos, personal shopper, camera and all other workshops…). If anyone wants to add prizes to this list it would be an amazing way to make the challenge even more attractive! All values can (and actually should!) be converted into donations to the charity chosen by the winners. Let’s make a difference!
Very simple rules:
- Post your images as described above before the virtual meeting in which we will judge the posts.
- The most voted posts will be taken to discussion during the virtual meeting. If we don’t reach a unanimous decision Cesar Martins will have the final decision.
- The challenge will only be valid after we reach 10 unique participants (by that I mean 10 real and different people, no aliases).
- To be eligible you must:
- Follow CHaya.photo and CHaya.portraits on Instagram
- Like CHaya on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Photo.Chaya/)
- Have fun while participating 😀
- The prizes can be collected
- Anytime if they are remote/virtual
- After the pandemic is over and it is safe to go outside and meet

Whatever you do, please stay inside, stay healthy and, if possible, help the elderly and others in need. You can volunteer here to go shopping and certainly find other alternatives in your building/neighbourhood.
See you all soon!
Do yourself and everybody else a favour, stay at home. To avoid that advice is ignorant, naive, selfish, plain stupid or a combination of all of the above.
hey mate, if you had taken the time to read the post, you wouldn’t have made a fool out of yourself. I really appreciate your patrolling effort to enforce the need to stay at home, but that is EXACTLY what I propose with the challenge. MEET VIRTUALLY and do something FROM HOME. Less hate, less hasty decisions, more love.
Peace (at home, with washed hands),
Cesar
