AI seems to have taken the news in every area, and the photo community has a lot on this front. Now yet another contender comes to spice up this discussion: Radiant.
The concept, should you choose to accept it is quite simple: just a few clicks to optimize what you see, not to change the whole photo. In Radiant’s own words:
Your photos deserve to be radiant.
from Radiant’s website.
Get superior quality finished photos with perfect color rendition, delivered to you in record time. Your photos — simply RADIANT. The way they are meant to be.
In my humble opinion and as with everything in life, there are pros and cons. On one side it renders good results with its greatest point to me: AI-utomatically adjust the images with some controls for the changes it makes. If you have many images to work on or very little time to edit, you can count on AI for the rescue. And the software can tackle different fronts – landscape, portrait on seamless background, portrait with a blurred or busy background and then some.
The other side for me is that those are not so complex improvements, even more, if we consider AI-masking (as in #Adobe #Lightroom, which I think still needs to catch up in #CaptureONE). Many of the improvements I could trigger with Radiant could be done with #presets that I created on LR, but without forking in another CHF 170-200.- bucks.
In the end, it seems to me like a good AI-automated solution that carries a significant price tag. Deep pockets might have no issues with it but you might be able to get similar results without it.
Very important: Radiant might still save some time on the edits, even if compared to LR with the AI Presets. If you don’t have the presets, it would probably save you much sitting time.
