Our latest photo walk was yet another unforgettable experience despite the inclement weather. The few waterproof photographers who dared to challenge the environment turned a rainy day into a canvas!
The Photo Walks
Our photo walks are easy-going, free, open meetings in which we roam around a specific part of town with the sole purpose of chatting and having fun – I mean – making gorgeous photos. We organise it all through the Meetup website, where all RSVP takes place.
“Weather Foul-cast”
Although the weather forecast showed a dry afternoon, the clouds seemed not to have received that memo. Maybe it is a connected phenomenon but whenever such weather comes, many photographers don’t. We need to study this 😉
Amidst the chilly rain, a brave group of waterproof photographers took on the day with unwavering enthusiasm. Despite the weather’s attempts, our spirits and cameras remained undampened as we ventured into the picturesque Kreis 5 area, ready to capture the city’s vibe in a unique light.
Kreis 5 Zürich
According to Google, Kreis 5 is
Industrial-chic District 5 has an edgy vibe, with hip cafes and restaurants, cool shops and sleek hotels. Nightclubs cluster near Escher-Wyss-Platz, while Prime Tower has views of the Alps from its elegant bar and Maag Music Hall hosts dance parties. Green areas include Oberer Letten and Unterer Letten for swimming in the Limmat River, plus laid-back Frau Gerolds Garten, with a restaurant and artsy shops
Google
From my personal experience, it is an amazing area, bursting with busy city life under an industrial vibe, making for endless photo opportunities.
Photo Themes
Our chosen themes for the day were “Street Photography” and “Colors,” and the rain-slicked streets proved to be a perfect setting for these challenges. The reflections and vibrant hues against the overcast sky provided a distinct backdrop that led to remarkable captures. These photographers embraced the dual challenge, producing images that showcased the city’s vivid charm even in less-than-ideal weather.
Hail Holi
The amazing Holli did it again! Our eternal Santa Klaus not only dared to face the elements but also came dressed to impress, adding a special spark to the group. Thanks for bringing such positive vibes to our outings!
Exploring New Techniques
Our exploration didn’t stop there. Some of us also experimented with other techniques, including panning. You should check the amazing results from Simon in our Facebook group, they are amazing! This experimentation and cooperative learning was a glimpse of what’s to come with our learning photo walks, scheduled to launch this September. These guided sessions promise to be invaluable learning experiences, offering practical insights that will undoubtedly enhance your photography skills, while having a blast throughout the city.
Feedback and Exchange
It does not stop with the photo walk, we continue the fun on our free Facebook group, where we post the results and discuss them, be it in awe or to make constructive feedback, as well as ask around for tips and tricks.
More is on the way – Join Now or Regret it Later
The photo walks have been filling up quicker than I can post new events! Don’t miss out, rush to secure your spot by promptly RSVPing on the Meetup Group.
I’m looking forward to meeting you all again soon. In the meantime, keep that camera clicking and yourself healthy.
